Official Announcement: Almost five years ago we announced the "Round ESL" league system which has since been the basis for the ESL Amateur Series ever since. To create a perfect system for the needs of eSports we combined the best aspects of different competitions. After several years without any changes to this system many new things will be altered in the upcoming weeks and months which we will present to you in this news.
Divisions Update always at the first day of each month
The changes in the divisions are not transparent right now, updates every two weeks were not constant enough. Instead, updates will now be made on the first of every month. This will make the Divisons a little calmer and allows us to announce a champion every month for each division.
Hall of Fame with monthly champions
The top player or team of every Division at the end of the month will be immortalised in a Hall of Fame. Being the top player or team of each division - from top to bottom - gives every participant the chance to be a part of the Hall of Fame. The monthly champions will be automatically put into the Hall of Fame and will remain there permanently.
What-if-Machine
A general problem at the moment is how to estimate if a match is likely to be a Win or a Loss. With a normal challenge you have the What-if-Machine, but you can only see it if you challenged a person manually and once the match has been accepted it's no longer possible to see it. In the future the What-if-Machine will be part of the matchsheet. This is for all ESL matches, not only for the EAS.
"ESL Amateur Series Player"
Players within the ESL Amateur Series show that they are ambitious eSportsmen by participating in the League, because with its fixed pairings and timetables it is more elaborate. Amateur Series players run through more challenging and more interesting matches. These players will have a special mark in their profile in the future, similar to how national players are currently marked.
Postponing of matches
Up until now it was only possible to move matches forward to play them earlier. From now on, players and teams can coordinate their matches more flexibly, but it will still not be possible to move a match past a division update.
"No Match Problem"
When teams leave the league it can cause odd numbers which means that teams will sometimes not get a match. This is unavoidable but some teams would have this happene several times in a row. In the future it will be made so it can only happen once per team in a season.
Default Wins!
Whenever there is a generated match and a fixed shedule, there are players or teams that don't turn up when they are supposed to play. They get penalty points for it, but the player or team that did turn up is never satisfied with this solution because if you took your time to play, you still want to play. Time wasted, no game, no points. After long discussions we have decided to make the following change: For all Auto-Challenger Matches in the EAS, if one side does not show up, the other side will have a default win.
When will it happen?
The changes mentioned above will take place in the upcoming weeks and monthes little by little. In comparison to other features, we want this time to inform you early so that you can give us a lot of feedback.
