Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel (View Interview) ![]() eSportsTV had the chance to talk with gaming legend Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel about what is going on with his life. For those who don't know already, Fatal1ty has put down down the mouse and keyboard for a few seasons to become the official spokesperson and commentator of DirecTV's Championship Gaming Series (CGS). The league, which is working closely with Channel 101, IGN, Myspace, Best Buy, British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), and STAR Asia, has made Fatal1ty enthusiastic about pushing competitive gaming into the mainstream media. Gamers who get a chance to play in this event, like the ones competing at Buy.com's CGS Qualifiers, won't just get recognized but will get a chance to make over $100,000 a year. As far as when and what Fatal1ty will end up competing in next, he plans to keep it a secret. So why is he at the Buy.com LAN 2007 event? Well, Fatal1ty has been hosting his Fatal1ty Shootouts, playing with gamers of all ages, and will end up color commentating for CGS on Sunday, with camera crews and all. He is also at the event to learn more about the players and has been training hard on becoming a great sports announcer for CGS as he has worked with people like Mike Burks and others in the sports world. In fact, he will be attending a NBA playoff game in April to learn more about how sports broadcasting works. Fatal1ty has also recently released the Creative Fatal1ty Headsets which is "a very affordable price for gamers trying to get involved in gaming, but also good for pro gamers as well who just need a good pair of headphones to play with."
