
Since the release of Armerica's Army in 2002, the U.S. army has been an active member in eSports. US Today, reports that the United States Army is now going to be more actively involved in eSports. According to the article, the US Army is attempting to reach out to the 9.2 million gamers by sponsoring a "national gaming" area. Their sponsorship is estimated to be aound $2 million with popular online gaming league GGL.
Players of the "national gaming" area will be able to seek out prizes/rankings in 15 different games. With the best of the best facing off in "Elite Forces" tournaments on a monthly basis.
